The 2015 Kia Soul has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick Award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Receiving a perfect score in all five tests, the recently redesigned model earned a great reputation for safety.
In all five IIHS tests, the Soul earned the top score of good:
Small Overlap Front Test
Moderate Overlap Front Test
Head Restraints and Seats
The Soul was redesigned in 2014, and for 2015 Kia worked to strengthen the front structure to improve protection in crashes. In small overlap front tests that measure head-on accidents with poles and trees, the Soul’s driver space was maintained reasonably well. Measures take from the crash test dummies indicate a low risk of any significant injuries during these small overlap front tests.
IIHS found a low indication of any significant injuries on side tests and other front end tests.
This Top Safety Pick Honor is another in a growing trophy case for the popular model. The Soul has been voted the best car for both young and old drivers, and it’s also considered one of the best cars for those who drive with dogs.
